Measure the main shaft and countershaft
O.D.
Service Limits:
Main Shaft:
Starter gear : 19.919mm replace if below
4th/5th gear: 19.919mm replace if below
Main shaft
Countershaft:
Starter idle gear: 16.05mm replace if below
1st gear : 14.919mm replace if below
2nd gear : 24.919mm replace if below
3rd gear : 19.919mm replace if below

STARTER SPINDLE
Disassemble the starter spindle.
Starter Pinion
Inspect the starter ratchet and starter pinion
for wear or damage and replace with new
ones if necessary.
Inspect the starter spindle return spring for
deformation or damage and replace with a
new one if necessary.
Measure the starter ratchet I.D.
Service Limit: 20.35mm replace if over Starter Ratchet
