FUEL PUMP INSPECTION
Fuel pump output
Inspection procedure of fuel pump pressure Injector hose
Key off the vehicle and remove the decorative
plastic parts. No fire is allowed.
Remove the fuel delivering tube of fuel pump
(B) from the output port of fuel pump (A)
(located by the fuel pressure regulator on the
oil tank cap).
Take a hydraulic gauge with one end
(connecting hose) connected to the fuel output
of fuel pump (shown as A of the figure); the
other end of the hydraulic gauge connect to the
output hose of fuel pump (shown as B of the
Figure to the fuel injector). Vacuum pipe Fuel pump
After completing the above 3 steps, Key on
Fuel pump output
and Key off the vehicle few times continuously hose
(Do not start the vehicle) and check if the
hydraulic pressure reaches 250kPa within 5-10
seconds of Key on or not. If it is not reached, it
is abnormal and the O-ring of fuel Pressure
Adjuster shall be checked for any break. If the
fuel pressure is insufficient and O-ring is
normal, please replace the entire Fuel Pump
Assy.
Troubleshooting
Judgment when fuel pump is not acting
-When Key on, the relay has a action noise Injector input hose
(power connected) then there is sound of fuel
pump rotation, and about 5-10 seconds, there
is noise of relay moving again (power off)
- The noise of relay moving does not mean fuel
pump is rotating (heavy wear or carbonized
of platinum contact inside fuel pump)
- For malfunction of relay, please refer "Data FUEL PUMP RELAY
analysis 7/7" condition of gasoline pump Off
(Engine is not running) On (Engine running)
Engine off during driving, unable to start
(without malfunction code)
- Fuel pump connecting oil loosed off will have
this phenomenon (spark plug is dry).
- Poor contact of fuel pump relay will have this
situation.
