 BATTERY
 REMOVAL
 Remove the left side cover.
 First disconnect the battery negative cable
 and then the positive cable.
 Remove the two battery set plate lock nuts.
 Disconnect the breather tube and remove the
 battery.

 SPECIFIC GRAVITY TEST
 Test each cell by drawing electrolyte into a
 hydrometer.
 Specific Gravity:
    1.2601.280 (20)
    1.2701.290 Fully charged                       Hydrometer
    1.260 or below Undercharged
 · The battery must be charged if the                                                  Electrolyte
      specific gravity falls below 1.260.
    · The specific gravity varies with the
      temperature. Test when it is cold.
    · Replace the battery if the space below
      the cell plates is filled with sediment.




      Warning
  The battery contains sulfuric acid. Avoid
  contact with skin, eyes, or clothing.
  Antidote: Flush with water and get prompt
            medical attention.
