6. CYLINDER HEAD/VALVES K-PIPE 50 Bolt Left Side Cover CYLINDER HEAD REMOVAL Remove the left crankcase cover bolt. Remove the left crankcase cover. Remove the crankshaft hole cap and timing hole cap. Remove the left side cover and gasket. Remove the cam chain tensioner sealing bolt, washer, spring and tensioner shaft.(See the diagramp6-4-4) Remove the valve inspection hole caps. Align Bolt Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise until the "o" mark on the cam sprocket aligns with the index mark on the cylinder head. Make sure there slight clearances between the valve stems and rocker arms by moving the rocker arms up and down. If the rocker arms are tight, turn the crankshaft counterclockwise one full turn and realign the "o" mark with the index mark. Remove the cam sprocket bolts and cam sprocket. Cam Sprocket Suspend the cam chain with a wire or Cylinder Head Cover Cylinder Bolt cord to prevent it from falling into the cylinder. Loosen the cylinder bolts. Remove the bolt attaching the cylinder head to the cylinder, Remove the four nuts holding the cylinder head cover, Remove the cylinder head cover. Nuts And Washers Cylinder Head Bolt Gasket Inspection Hole Caps Remove the cylinder head cover gasket. Remove the cylinder head. Remove the cylinder head gasket and dowel pins.
